great sounds good. what scale skirmish or army sized or somewhere inbetween? watched a good program a few months ago about a seige of a castle in granada spain (christians besieging a moorish castle) very interesting stuff. andwe've been discussing this very subject for a while now.

Army / city sized with the required level of abstraction. For 18th C. sieges my thoughts are that they had become formulaic to a certain extent. If no relief came before walls were breached it was the convention to seek terms. Therefore it is about how long a place can hold out with the option for the besiegers to attempt riskier (but exciting) assaults to try to speed things up.

I put together a board for the Siege Engineer card game following the suggestion after our brief test games. CLICK HERE I will probably put together an article about the game for the League of Augsburg blog so that I can get more feedback.

Pondering the format of Siege Engineer for ancient times, how about in place of the "Formal Siege" part (saps and parallels) we have completing a Gigantic siege engine? I am thinking of the huge tower used by Alexander at Tyre and huge assault ramps and similar. Is it reasonable for game purposes to have this as the stage that the city falls as inevitable? There will be opportunities as before for sallies to disrupt the building of the GS Engine. I think assaults and bombarding with siege engines should be emphasised more than the 18th C version. And in response sallies and defensive bombardment. Any thoughts?
