We have chatted many time about this war as a campaign setting so I thought I'd just get on with it.

Map: I am going to use the African part of the board from "Hannibal: Rome vs Carthage" (including Sardinia. )

Sides: 2 Carthaginians, 2 Mercenaries. Let me know if any of you have a preference.

Armies: measured in resources available, based on cities controlled. Maximum army size 10 talents of silver. Each week the resources for each army must be split between raising units, Pay, Diplomacy and Supply. When armies engage the tabletop forces will be generated using Beat the Drum. I will put up some example army tables soon to show how these work, (Spades will be the Pay, Diplomacy and Supply elements.)

Right. I have the map and roughed out some simple(?) rules. Not using ToW as that would mean having to be in the same room as you freaks far too often. Hopefully I will have it all typed up for Sunday.

Jim I can understand, but myself and Nick ? :)

Fine upstanding members of society such as we are.

Had a rummage through the figure boxes from the last game and found out that I have far to many Hoplites than a sane person should have (3 Spartan & 10 other, doesn't include the Ipacraetians either !).  Think there are more in with the Persians as well !

That's decided then. All your mercenaries are gonna be hoplites. Rotten ones...

I have cast you Les as Hamilcar Barca, father of the great man himself...

Thank you.  I think I can cope with that. He was OK as I recall, not great but OK.

Once the Mercenary leaders have decided on their strategy, I will need the division of Talents for each army as well as any moves. Same for Hamilcar. If  mercenary leaders cannot agree on division of Talents between them, they are divided equally (rounded down.)

starting locations:

Hanno - Carthage, Hamicar - Carthage,  Spendius - Utica, Mathos - Thabraca, Autarit - Hippo Regius.

To kick off the campaign I need your orders please gentlemen (Talents division and movement, as a minimum.) After this weekend I will be out of action for a couple of weeks.

Turn 2 map has been emailed out. Utica has fallen to the rebels. Hippo Regius laughs at Mathos' attempt at a siege (but that might change mow that unrest has broken out...)

So, you're not sure when you contacted him.  That's not very reassuring is it.
