Some images of the forthcoming "Warriors of Carthage" box (sound like it will be a mish-mash of different troop types.)

Nothing very innovative in these command figures, although I quite like the scale armour. The others would do as well in a Successor army...

More potential conversion fodder to me, box is going to have 60 figs, Veterans, African Inf and Light Inf with head variations (like that bit).  The un armoured trumpeter looks quite cool though.  Would prefer boxes of each with head variants.

That will be the option taken by Agema I suspect. (We can do swapsies!)

Exactly how large are we planning the Carthie army to be ?  We already need to double the amount of Romans we possess (and Nick and Jim will not be helping with that !).  I know I tend to go OTT but........:D

I know I should replace my Old Skool Minifigs, but when have we ever done that ? :)

I assume we are looking to fight the 1st Punic war and the Truceless war on a one-to-one basis ? :)

Mind you, the Celts need someone to fight.......:)

But you will still buy some, despite all of that !:)

I have always planned long-term to have my own Carthaginian army anyway... (Got Kelts, Numidians and Ellies already, so why stop there?!)

They look quite cool and distictive.  Will almost certainly get some if they look like that.

Like the spearmen, very city militia. The LI look OK as well. Some need to see a hairdresser though.

These are announced for release now. 2 boxes initially, one of 62 figures split between "Veterans", Libyan spears and light infantry. The second box is of 24 Punic citizen infantry (quite 3rd Punic War looking at the few photos I have seen.) Might get these just for the conversion possibilities.

Oh God No !

I was looking at the 1st Corps Numidian infantry for use as Militia types just the other day.

Price differential is quite marked, less than 50p for the Veterans, compared to 75p for the Militia.

Otherwise very nice.

I got hold of  a few sprues of the Warriors of Carthage box. Not too impressed tbh, the detail and poses are a bit softer and less convincing than the hoplites Victrix do. You get three torsos in mail, three in linothorax and two unarmoured on the basic sprue.  A selection of 16 different heads which are mostly really good (a few weird hairstyles for the Numidian light infantry)  are provided, as well as a choice of spears or javelins. The shields are a big disappointment. There are six Roman Scuta, three Greek aspis and two small round ones for the light infantry. This limits at least half of the heavy infantry to being Hannibals veterans re-armed with captured Roman gear unless you want to shell out for additional shields. Would have made so much more sense to provide theuros style shields, so that many different theatres and Carthaginian armies could be represented.

The he command sprue is very good. A fine looking scale corselet is worn by one officer and a fancy Successor getup by the other. The third figure is unarmoured and mainly intended as a trumpet  toting musician. There is a choice of arms brandishing swords or standards and a couple of round shields. Again a great selection of heads to choose from.

Victrix have shown some Numidian cavalry renders for an upcoming box of figures.

Look fairly typical of Victrix latest offerings; slightly weird poses and details softer than their previous sets. Very usable for all that. Not sure when these are due "mid 2016" is all that has been said. There is also a box of Successor pikemen coming which look very nice, are of course entirely not needed and I shall obviously buy a box (more Bactrian Greek conversion fodder....?)
