Hi to all, just wanted to say thks for your welcome at Sundays game, the constant buzzzz (war-game chatter wasnt it) in the background over the muted explosions (Jim stamping) and the harmonious discussions and lively dispute over whose decision was right, or more often Wrong, has made me all misty eyed with memories of what i have been missing. More fool me you may say but it was good fun and thoroughly enjoyable! First round is on me next time Cheers Steve

Nice to meet you Steve. In answer to your question, we were trying to play the rules straight from the rulebook / supplement  - if badly! :D (Medieval period is a bit neglected by us, so the subtleties of the period specific rules were a bit dim in our minds - it's a n age thing I suspect...) Piquet does have a few grey areas in the rulebooks which leave scope for spirited debate. They 're not really meant for competition games, where legalistic exactitude is required. House rules can be added without upsetting the balance of the game too. Our own Indian rocket rules are always amusing, with plenty of friendly fire incidents to brighten an aspiring general's day!

The most used Piquet supplements for us are: Archon (ancients) and Cartouche (18th C.) In the UK Lancashire Games carry good stocks of them http://www.joomla.lancashiregames.com/joomla/  (and are part of the ociety of Ancients discount scheme, if you're a member.)

Hi Adam, Jim and all - I certainly wouldnt want say anything bad about anyones use of the rules on sunday after all I was on the winning team and tobe fair my own interpretation of rules (unless closely supervised) is somewhat openminded? . At this point i am really looking for fun games (mostly) in good company, which I found on Sunday and on occasion a more serious game if there,s a show or display to be done. I,ll check out Lancashire games in the next few days - Cheers Steve

Thanks for being so understanding of our little corner of senility :)

If you remember, we are off to Wayland Games on Saturday for a (slightly) more serious game from Adams current Truceless War (a post 1st Punic War Carthaginian Civil War) campaign.  These rules (Archon) we know (at least we think we do !) so should flow a little better and give a better idea of the mechanics.  Not sure of the start time, have to find that out myself, but it wont be early. Hope to see you. I'll post he time when I know it.
