Happy New Year Chaps! What are your wargaming plans for 2012? My own initial priorities are: 1. Painting hoplites for whatever scenario Nick and Les organise for the SOA Battle Day. 2. 28mm medieval (maybe including naval forces...) 3. LoA cavalry, starting with 3 new regiments of ex-Copplestone figures. 4. Saracen army based on Olicanalad project. 5. Sudan anyone? (That little lot should keep me busy...)

You see, that's the sort of focus I'm lacking

My plans involve : 1.writing rules for Sudan & painting the figures I already have. 2. Clearing up the unpainted ECW, Moghul & Medieval figures I already have. 3. 1:300 WW2 English 4. More regular wargaming ( to be fitted round 6/7 weeks in France). 5. Creating my own website You will notice that there is nothing that involves me buying figures for a complete new period. I do have a number of Crusade period Muslims & could easily be tempted to adding to these given suitable figure availability & interest from others. I also have a slow moving "secret" project that may come to fruition this year. Nick

My projects are the Spanish Civil War and one secret one upon which I have already spent an inordinate amount of money and in relation to which I spent the entire Christmas holidays gluing bits together (badly, it appears as everything keeps falling apart whenerver it is even lightly touched)

The intention not to buy figures for a new period is still intact - I never promised not to add (where needed) figures for existing periods. Plus paints, bases, flock etc are always required. Are you all stricken with the bug, because nobody else seems to be posting? Nick

I have already blown my "secret project" in this very thread . 28mm medieval naval as a component of land battles though. I am probably inspired by a photo in a Wargame Illustrated from many years ago with cogs full of crossbowmen taking part in a river crossing(? If I find the picture I will scan it for here.) Already have 3 ships (1 resin, 2 plastic) and some landing stage terrain for a harbourside. It should look good but what are the gaming possibilities I suppose is my main concern?

Well we seem to have followed the same thought processes - I had planned to make a couple of boats during my time in France this year. My idea was to scale the ships so that they take multiples of 60mm x 30mm bases. What size are your ships? My version of cogs would be broad,& have two castles . I have a starter with the pirate ships Gary Chalk made some years ago in one of the wargames mags. Thought these might adapt with a bit of surgery.

Two of mine are this model: I can be assembled as a waterline version, saving tedious sawing of the hull. The other is a resin Brigandine by Outpost.

Two inspiring photos from Partizan (wish I was going now): Must get my medieval ships started...
