Essex do (or did) a small range of Bactrians Greeks (by the chap who sculpted the old Corvus figures IIRC) Cannot see them on the new Essex site, from the interwebs I have found these: Any others? I have a vague memory of RAFM and Garrison having some but that is going back a few years and they are probably a bit ropey now...

Completely forgot that 1st Corps have some Bactrians: I like those. Not so sure about the Iranian cavalry though (could just be the paintjob.)

Yup, 1st Corps, Crusader/North Star do some and Spirit Games has the old Essex range on there website ! Most others do 'Eastern' Phalangites but none do the 'traditional', as we know it, cavalryman. it would also appear that these didn't have any 'Indian' troops, that was the 'Indo Greek' bods who came after these after these invaded India. Seems to be a glaring gap in successor armies. I've got a couple of books on them - Montvert : http://www.kushan.org/reviews/taob.htm .

Could probably use Skythian type figures for the eastern native cavalry.

Yes I have the Montverts very useful. I saw somewhere the distinction between Greco-Indian and Bactrian Greek; to my mind that just gives us an additional combination to fight against each other. The mentions of various Greek led kingdoms at odds just gives me the ambition to field everything from fully Indian armies with a smattering of Greeks to more Central Asian themed armies with the bow armed Iranians and Saka style light cavalry. (the Navigator ones are very nice.) Interestingly although several manufacturers do "Eastern Phalangites" with trousers on, most Bactrian phalangites are shown in greaves (maybe a deliberate identification with the minority group?)

Talking of Persian cavalry, I remembered the plastic cavalry that I have at the weekend. Once I had found them and had a look they are not perfect, unarmoured and weird "skirts". However I put together a cavalryman with a Boeotian helmet from the Thebans box to see what the effect is. I went for a bow firing pose, which required a shoulder loop for the lance that was alegedly used as well. I'm fairly happy with the effect; I can always go for the old robes over armour line.

very pretty, didn't you have some metals as well ? I'll get some as well coz I don't have much Persian cavalry

I do have plenty of metal Achaemenid cavalry but they mostly have eastern style helmets/ persian tiaras, so don't look particularly Bactrian. They will do for miscellaneous eastern light cavalry though. Next I am going to try a hoplite thorax so I can have an armoured cavalryman (will require some surgery with a razor saw.)

Good news! (To my mind at least) Warlord Games has acquired the old Vendel Parthian cavalry. I will very likely buy some as generic eastern steppe archers just because they are such nice designs by Ebob.
